Celtic 'massive' title advantage over Rangers emerges as Ibrox 'cushion' thrown away

Tam McManus believes Celtic now have a "MASSIVE" advantage in this season's title race.

The Hoops contingent would have been watching rivals Rangers face Ross County last weekend with a nervy feeling as a win for Gers would have taken them just one point behind in the table with a game in hand. Philippe Clement's troops could not get the job done and lost 3-2 in Dingwall as momentum shifted towards Celts again.

The Light Blues will now still stay behind their foes even with a win in this evening's Dundee game in hand and they face the May 11 trip to Parkhead in the final derby of the campaign - where they could potentially lose the league, depending on other results.

For former Hibs attacker McManus, Gers have chucked away their advantage they had in the trophy hunt and that leaves Brendan Rodgers' men with the bit between their teeth.

"That’s the little cushion that they had, they had the draw in their pocket until this game [at Ross County], they had the draw, if they could go to Parkhead and not get beat they were still in the driving seat," he told PLZ Soccer.

“It gives Celtic a massive advantage. They’ll know if they can beat Rangers at Parkhead, they’ve all but won the title.

“And I thought Ross County totally deserved it, they looked as if they wanted it, they were more hungry. [For] a couple of the goals they ran off Rangers players, which I’ve not seen since Philippe Clement came in.

“They deserved it. At the end you thought Rangers were going to go and put some pressure on Ross County, once it went to 3-2 you thought seven minutes added, Rangers will really go and push [but] didn’t really look like scoring an equaliser.

“It’s a shocker, it really is, and it puts Rangers well up against it now.”
