Celtic news bulletin as Kenny Miller 'buzzing' to team up with Ronny Deila and linked keeper has Parkhead 'exit voucher'

Kenny Miller admits he can't wait to work alongside ex-Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila after the pair were confirmed as Al Wahda's new management team.

The former Rangers striker has joined the Norwegian head coach at the Abu Dhabi club on a one-year contract ahead of the new season. Miller's last job was at English Championship side Huddersfield Town with Mark Fotheringham and since leaving the Yorkshire club, he's spent the last year as a TV pundit. The 44-year-old was keen to get back to coaching and is excited at the prospect of teaming up with former New York City, Standard Liege and Club Brugge boss Deila.

Miller - who scored against Deila's Celtic team for Rangers - said: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be back in football. The last year has flown in and I never really felt out of the game doing what I was doing in the media. I always had my finger on the pulse, watching a lot of games and talking about football every day. But I probably didn't imagine I'd get this type of opportunity.

"I'm really looking forward to working with a proven manager in Ronny. Football is taking off in this part of the world and it's a chance for me to get back on the grass and work with a really forward-thinking club. Al Wahda is a big club in the UAE and it's a good fit for me. I can't wait to get started."

Al Wahda are the four-time champions of the UAE Pro League and won the League Cup last season. Deila and Miller will take their squad to Serbia for pre-season before the new campaign kicks off.

Meanwhile, Rocco Vata has officially left Celtic after putting pen to paper on a deal at Watford. The youngster - who the Hoops were keen to retain - has decided to seek a fresh challenge in his search for regular first-team football and has opted for a move south of the border into the English Championship. He joins a familiar face to our game in Scotland international and former Hibs star Ryan Porteous. He's signed a four-year deal with the option for an additional year with the Hornets liable to pay a training compensation fee to the Scottish champions.

In other news, Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a host of goalkeepers as he looks for a new No1 to replace Joe Hart. It is a priority position for the Parkhead side - who return to pre-season action tonight at Ayr United. Scott Bain is likely to be handed the gloves for that one as the search that has brought names like Asmir Begovic and Caoimhin Kelleher to the table.

However, reports in France in L'Equipe claim the Hoops have 'positioned themselves' in the chase for Yvon Mvogo alongside Parma. The Lorient keeper - currently on Euro 2024 duty with Switzerland - has an 'exit voucher' for this summer after his club side suffered relegation.

French sides Nantes and Nice are all mentioned in the report alongside the Scottish champions. The stopper has played for the likes of RB Leipzig and PSV across his career and has even had a taste of Parkhead during his time in Germany in a Europa League clash.
