Following a 46-game regular season and two play-off matches, the Championship play-off final will be game number 49 for the last remaining sides in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League. Leicester City have already been promoted as league champions and will be joined in the top-flight next season by Ipswich Town, who secured back-to-back promotions by finishing second in a hugely competitive Championship season.

The race for the Premier League will conclude once again with the play-off final at Wembley, a game widely recognised as the richest match in professional football with over £100m at stake for the winner in television revenue and Premier League payments. It's a game that captures the attention of the football world and has seen plenty of drama down the years.

Leeds United are at Wembley after coming through their play-off semi-final second-leg match against Norwich City with a convincing 4-0 victory, with Southampton or West Bromwich Albion lying in wait for Daniel Farke's men.

There's likely to be more drama once again at Wembley, but when does the game take place, how do you get tickets to be there and who will contest the match? We've got the answers below.

When is the play-off final?

The Championship play-off final takes place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday May 26. The game will be held the day after the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United, with Wembley expected to be very busy that weekend and many hotels already booked up.

Travel the day before the game is also expected to be very busy on the roads and rail, with so many people leaving the Manchester area to head down for the FA Cup final.

What time does the play-off final kick-off?

This year the Championship play-off final will kick-off at 3pm. It is the only one of the thee play-off finals to start in the traditional 3pm slot.. The League Two final is a 1pm kick-off on Sunday May 19, while the League One final the day before on Saturday 18 kicks off at 4:15pm.

How do I buy play-off final tickets?

Leeds United fans have been allocated 35,000 in the east end of the Wembley Stadium for the play-off final. Tickets will only be available to buy through the club’s official website and not in person or over the phone.

General admission season ticket holders will get the first opportunity between May 18 at 10.30am and May 21 at midday. Seasonal hospitality members will have the same window to secure their place in the capital.

Phase two of the process will open at 10.30am on May 20 and close at midday on May 21. This phase is open to home members and away tracker supporters. For example, all My Leeds members who purchased a ticket for nine or more games across the season will be eligible. Full details here.

Sky Sports will show live coverage of the play-off final. The game will be shown on Sky Sports Main event with the programme going on air from 2pm, with an hour build-up to the big match.
