For the second time in four weeks, Donegal and Tyrone clash in the Championship. Only this time, Donegal are the defending Ulster champions and have home advantage.

The provincial series is over and Jim McGuinness’s side are the top-ranked team in Group Three and play their opening game at home against third seeds Tyrone.

In reality, both teams will fancy their chances of progressing to the knockout stages, but they’ll both be keen to top the group and avoid the extra game of the preliminary quarter-final.

It took extra-time to separate the teams in the Ulster SFC semi-final at Celtic Park before Donegal went on to defeat Armagh on penalties in the final.

The Red Hands received a boost at the weekend as their U20s won the All-Ireland title with an impressive win over Kerry and a few of Paul Devlin’s squad could be called up to the senior ranks, albeit this weekend’s game will probably come too quickly.
