The Chase's Shaun Wallace has revealed his future plans as the beloved ITV game show celebrates its 15th anniversary.

The Chaser, 64, better known as the 'Dark Destroyer' on the show, has confirmed he has "no plans to retire" from his TV role or his other job as a no-nonsense barrister.

Shaun recently told New Zealand Woman's Weekly that he loves both roles but believes his long stint on television could come to an abrupt end so he never takes it for "granted", the Mirror reports.

Shaun said: "I'm celebrating 40 years in the job this year and I have no plans to retire at 65 - I love it. I love quizzing too, so I will be doing that for as long as I can.

"I never take being on The Chase for granted. I know it could all end tomorrow, and I still pinch myself that we are celebrating our 15th anniversary this year.

Shaun's role as a Chaser on the show hosted by Bradley Walsh is "very competitive", but answering questions to compete against contestants in a studio is likely to be a "doddle" compared to facing the sometimes "very stern" judges in the Court of Appeal.

The ITV show has also opened up others doors for Shaun's career including a position as a cruise ship quiz host with four sailings booked this year and one that recently took him around the Mediterranean.

Despite his celebrity status, his showbiz role does not interfere with his more serious legal work as members of the court don't bat an eyelid when he arrives in his wig and gown.

Shaun said: "They're there for the case; they're not interested in Shaun Wallace the Chaser; they only care about Shaun Wallace the barrister.

"The fact I'm on TV isn't going to give me an advantage or affect the nature of the evidence. I just get on with it."

In terms of his love life, Shaun considers himself to be "married" to his career and seemingly has no plans to settle down or have children in the future.

However, he did admit he's currently in a relationship without giving away any extra details.

Speaking to Loose Women's Kaye Adams and co-star Karen MacKenzie on the How To Be 60 podcast, Shaun said not having children was a "conscious" decision as he revealed he made the choice when he was a "young struggling barrister".

He said he "didn't think it would be right" to bring up a child when "you're trying to climb to the top of that greasy pole".

Despite this, Shaun insists that he has "never regretted that decision" and instead has 15 godchildren, a role he appears to be very content with as he previously dubbed himself as the "best godfather in the world".
