According to consumer champion Which? charming Polish city Krakow is one of the top destinations to try on a budget. In 2023 they surveyed 1,637 of its panel members on a number of factors including food and drink, accommodation, cultural sights and attractions, ease of getting around, lack of crowds and value for money.

The city, which looks like it's plucked out of a fairytale with its own castle, stunning architecture and cobbled streets, is marked a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was formerly Poland's royal capital and has managed to preserve much of its historical buildings, having managed to miss much of the WWII destruction.

Krakow's infrastructure was one of the only Polish cities that was fairly unscathed by the war, due to Nazi's occupying and proclaiming it the capital of the General Government. Because they took over, the Nazi army had no interest in destroying it.

The city is known for perfectly blending the charming old characterises with contemporary style - with medieval castles sitting alongside ultramodern museums and exhibitions. Krakow is also known for having a bustling nightlife, mixing student locations (thanks to its several top-ranked universities) with quaint pubs.

Another called NOTA RESTO is run by the chef to the Polish national football team and features a full Michelin-guide approved tasting menu for £68, and main courses from £15.
