Marc Cucurella could help solve Chelsea's financial concerns as he approaches two years at Stamford Bridge following a £65million move. The Spain international has endured a mixed 2023/24 campaign to say the least with injury issues dominating the first few months, however he has impressed since his return.

As Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell have been dealing with their own issues, Cucurella has been required and he has thus started the last five Premier League games at left-back. In the 6-0 win against Everton earlier this week, he picked up an assist and despite the return of Chilwell, remained in the starting XI against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Having kept Bernardo Silva quiet for most of the game, Cucurella would have understandably been annoyed it was his man who netted the winner with his close-range effort finding the back of the net despite his best efforts to block the attempt.

Regardless of his recent displays, Chelsea selling Cucurella this summer appears a likely scenario as the Blues attempt to raise funds. With that in mind, TEAMtalkare reporting fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for the 25-year-old.

Unai Emery has Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno in that department but as both are the now 30, Villa could be looking at a younger option to come in and push for a first-team spot. Arsenal's Kieran Tierney is another target as he looks destined to leave Emirates Stadium once his loan spell at Real Sociedad comes to an end.

Chelsea signed Cucurella for £63million from Brighton in 2022 and will likely be happy to recoup even half of that fee given how his stock will have likely deteriorated alongside the club's desperate need to raise funds in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Ian Maatsen is also expected to depart this summer which presents a significant defensive dilemma for the Blues. Signing a new left-back therefore could be on the agenda with Milos Kerkez the of Bournemouth latest to be linked with a switch.

Lille defender Leny Yoro is another defensive transfer target with the Blues recently sending scouts to watch him in action against Villa with the French side clearly valuing his ability as he started and played the full 90 minutes in 25 of his 27 Ligue 1 appearances.
