Cheltenham general election 2024 results in full as Alex Chalk contests seat

Voters in Cheltenham have gone to the ballot box in the general election 2024.

A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the Gloucestershire constituency which includes the Cheltenham wards of All Saints, Battledown, Benhall and The Reddings, Charlton Kings, Charlton Park, College, Hesters Way, Lansdown, Leckhampton, Oakley, Park, Pittville, St Mark's, St Paul's, St Peter's, Up Hatherley, and Warden Hill.

Ahead of the election, the MP for the area was justice secretary Alex Chalk. Mr Chalk was among the candidates standing for the seat in the 2024 election.

The shock summer general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22, with elections taking place in all 650 seats across the UK. Since the 2019 general election major boundary changes affecting 90% of Parliamentary constituencies have come into force.

Ahead of the election, a Conservative government had been in power in Parliament since 2010.

Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK are expected in the early hours of Friday morning.
