Cher Reacts to Boyfriend Alexander 'AE' Edwards' Fight with Travis Scott at Cannes Party: 'I'm Proud'

Edwards and the "FE!N" rapper were filmed fighting late last month at nightclub owner Richie Akiva's "THE AFTER" party

Cher is standing by her man after he was involved in a physical altercation with Travis Scott late last month.

On Saturday, June 1, the 78-year-old "Believe" singer broke her silence on Alexander "AE" Edwards' fight with the "FE!N" rapper, which took place on May 23 at nightclub owner Richie Akiva's "THE AFTER" party amid the Cannes Film Festival.

"I’m Proud of Alexander," Cher wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"He Didn’t Start The fight against 2 Men,… He finished it, Gotta Love Him," she added.

The fight, which was captured on film by an onlooker, took place when Edwards' friend Tyga, 34, and Scott, 33, were both on stage behind a DJ booth, per Entertainment Tonight.

Footage from the night shows Scott and Edwards, 38, trading punches on stage near the booth. It remains unclear what provoked the altercation.

Both Scott and Tyga have been romantically involved with Kylie Jenner, as Scott shares two children — daughter Stormi, 6, and son Aire, 2 — with the mogul, while Tyga dated her on and off for two years until 2017.

Edwards had already confirmed that Cher had his back following the viral altercation with the Astroworld musician, telling TMZ “hell nah" in an update this week when asked if she was upset by his actions.

He then quoted Future and Metro Boomin's "GTA" to make his point.

“Like Future say, ‘Whatever I’m with, my bitch with it, too,” he said, before clarifying: “My woman, but the lyrics are the lyrics.”

In the same interview, Edwards brushed off questions about “wedding bells," before adding, “Aye bro, listen, we happy. We’re a happy family."

Cher and Edwards have been romantically linked since late 2022, when they connected over text after meeting “for about 15 minutes" at a 2022 Paris Fashion Week event. The "If I Could Turn Back Time" musician shared the story during an interview with PEOPLE in October 2023.

“It was really shocking, because people just don’t give out my number,” she said of a mutual friend who shared her info with Edwards. “I had been telling all my friends, ‘We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text.’ So I did what I said not to do!”

"No matter what happens, I love being with him,” Cher added of her partner, who she called a "beautiful" man.

“He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time," the singer said.
