'Cherished' Glasgow pub owned by Celtic legend up for sale after 33 years

A Glasgow pub owned by a late Celtic legend has been put up for sale after 33 years.

Former Hoops forward Harry Hood bought The Croft in 1978 and it took ten years to secure planning permission to turn it into a pub in an initially 'dry' area of the city's Southside.

He preserved and finally opened the Croftfoot venue in 1991 as a community pub serving food, showing sports games, and providing entertainment to visitors.

After more than 33 years, the family business Lisni Pub Company has placed the pub on the market.

Brian Sheldon of business sales agents Christie & Co is managing the sale at an asking price in excess of £1.35 million.

Described as 'traditional but contemporary', the venue features a 90-cover restaurant and a large public bar.

Over the years, the pub has earned a reputation as a popular pub dubbed a 'hidden gem' of the community.
