Cheryl has revealed she was terrified her son would be “swapped” for another baby in the hospital after she had given birth.

The former Girls Aloud star, 36, welcomed her son Bear with her ex partner Liam Payne in March 2017.

She has now admitted that she couldn’t let him out of her sight because of an “irrational” fear that he would be taken by someone.

Opening up on Ru Paul and Michelle Visage’s podcast What’s The Tea, Cheryl said: “When I had him, first of all I wouldn’t let the doctors take him out of the room.

“I read this story about two girls being swapped at birth and it was playing on my mind.

“I was so irrational… I didn’t want anyone to take him.”

The former X Factor judge said she and Payne found it easy to pick their son’s unusual name.

She said: “When I was in the hospital, he used to make these noises. We had specialists coming in to see what was going on, he was breathing like... (makes growling noise).

“It was just him. The midwife used to come in and say, ‘How’s the little bear?’”

She went on: “I couldn’t get the nickname, Bear, out of my mind.

“We toyed with a few others but I didn’t want him to be the third such and such in his class. I wanted him to have a unique name.”

The star also revealed she would love to give Bear a sibling.

“I would have a whole household full if I could,” she said.

Cheryl and Payne announced their split in July 2018 and Payne is now dating model Maya Henry.
