Cheryl 'rescued' by Nadine Coyle as Girls Aloud bandmate steps in during gig

Cheryl relied on Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine Coyle to step in and 'rescue' her during a performance of one of the group's most famous hits in Ireland.

At the end of next week it's time for Girls Aloud in Newcastle, when Cheryl arrives back on home turf for three consecutive nights at the Utilita Arena, marking the first time the Brit winners have been in the North East since their Ten tour in 2013. After a lot of speculation, Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola and Kimberley announced in November that they'd be reuniting and hitting the road on their The Show tour, to not only celebrate 22 years since they were formed on Popstars: The Rivals, but also to paid tribute to late bandmate Sarah Harding, who lost her battle with cancer in 2021, at the age of just 39.

The tour dates began in Dublin last week, when Girls Aloud played two nights in a row at the Irish capital's 3Arena, before moving to Belfast on Monday. And footage taken by fans at gigs in both cities showed Nadine stepping into sing Cheryl's line in the lead up to the final chorus of The Promise.

Standing at the other side of the stage, Kimberley delivered her bit of the track as planned, before Nadine then covered for Cheryl. The line should be 'If you wanna convince me, start again. If you wanna be with me in my arms,' but instead, Nadine, giving her own version of the lyrics sang, "If you wanna forgive me start again."

On the same night in Dublin, Saturday, May 18, Cheryl was the victim of an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction when, the huge skirt she had on for Sexy No No No failed to inflate and, with none of the other girls having not such problem, it became immediately obvious something had gone wrong for the Geordie star.
