A bride surprised her guests by requesting her bridesmaids wear wedding dresses for her special day. Kirsty Stewart, a 33-year-old district nurse leader, said she desired her bridal party to be a part of her 'neutral' colour-themed wedding held at Pryors Hayes Golf Club, in Tarvin, near Chester, on June 15.

She bought bridal gowns from ASOS for about £150 each to ensure her close-knit group felt appreciated.

Initial worries didn't dissuade Kirsty, who trusted that her £2,300 Natalie Ann Brides dress would make her distinguishable. Unlike many brides anxious about being outshone, she hoped the unique idea would allow her bridesmaids to share the limelight as they were integral to her celebration.

Expressing her perspective, Kirsty stated: "I felt they deserve the attention as well because they were a massive part of my day. I didn't feel like it'd take any attention off me at all. We're all really close."

Explaining her outfit decision, she conveyed: "I wanted something a little bit different. I came across the dresses and thought they'd suit everyone's style.

"They were actually called bridal dresses. I really liked them. I knew I always wanted to have it because it fit really well with the neutral, romantic, candle-lit theme of the wedding. I thought it was really nice to have us all the same."

"The groomsmen always wear the same suit as the groom so I thought 'why shouldn't the bridesmaid's wear the same colour? ' My bridesmaids were saying 'are you sure, we don't want to take any attention off you'. I said 'no, you are a big part of the day.

"Attention should be on you as well'. It was really nice for them to get the attention they deserved. We did get a lot of shocked people. But all the guests were close friends and family so they knew I was the bride."

The bride expressed her confidence that her dress, which had a unique feature compared to her bridesmaids', ensured she stood out: "My dress had statement arms on it so it was different and my hair was different. I felt confident enough that that would make me stand out.

"But as the bride you do feel confident in yourself. It's a day to feel good about yourself. It was really lovely. I couldn't have asked for it to go any better."

Kirsty's cousin and bridesmaid, Lorna Eames, shared how honoured she felt wearing the dress chosen by the bride: "I felt really special in the dress and that's how Kirsty wanted us to feel. She wanted us all to have our moment."

"I expected Kirsty to try something out of the ordinary. She's got a very keen eye for style. I loved it from the get-go. It felt amazing. I got married in December of last year so the dress I wore for my own wedding probably wasn't much more than the bridesmaid dress."
