From the Chicken Shop to the Oscars.
Amelia Dimoldenberg, the buzzy internet personality who hosts the viral celebrity interview series Chicken Shop Date, has been drafted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to serve as the face of the 2024 Oscars social media campaign. The role will find her acting as a social media ambassador and red carpet correspondent participating in high-profile Oscar events during the rest of awards season leading up to the 96th annual Academy Awards.

At the Oscars nominees luncheon on Feb. 12, Dimoldenberg will participate in an Academy video production featuring this year’s nominees. She will also capture an “Oscars 96 Behind the Scenes Tour” and interview nominees and talent on the Oscars red carpet on March 10.
In conjunction with the news, the Academy’s digital magazine, A.frame, dropped an exclusive interview with Dimoldenberg today in which she said she’s over the moon about her new gig. “What better place to interview Hollywood stars than the Oscars? For me, this is really a dream come true and a dream scenario, really. I’m also really excited to do something original and put my own stamp on the Oscars, to create some really amazing moments and deliver some amazing interviews — some groundbreaking pop culture journalism is incoming,” she offered with a laugh. “I hope so anyway. But I’m trying to not to put too much pressure on myself, but I also just want to do a really, really good job.”
She also singled out a few nominees she’d love to meet. “I’d probably be starstruck to interview Martin Scorsese. He seems so funny from watching his daughter’s TikToks of them together,” she explained. “There’s just so many people on the list that I’d love to meet. Cillian Murphy would be amazing to interview, and Emma Stone! Oh, my gosh, I would love to interview Emma Stone. I just watched Poor Things, and she’s magnificent in that. And again, she seems like she’s a really good time.”
Dimoldenberg created and hosts the YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, in which she conducts interviews with notable names inside a fast food restaurant. Her videos have racked up 2.2 million subscribers, 416 million views and 19.5 million hours of content watched. She’s gone face-to-face with the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Jack Harlow, Phoebe Bridgers, Daniel Kaluuya, Andrew Garfield and Rosalia, to name a few. News of the Oscars gig comes on the heels of another viral clip, interviewing All of Us Strangers star Paul Mescal.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dimoldenberg opened up on her entertainment aspirations, which included making it big in America, writing and performing.
“Two years ago I did the rounds in L.A., looking for an American agent. I did my whole spiel to everyone out there and one of the main things I said was that I want to be doing red carpet interviews. I think it’s a skill set of mine, and I felt it would be a good way to get my name out in America and beyond,” the London native said. “A dream of mine is to be able to base myself out there a bit. I’m working on making that a reality. It’s the dream, isn’t it, to break into American pop culture?” With the Oscars gig, she’s one step closer.
