A house fire resulted in the tragic death of a child and four more people were taken to hospital, say police. Early Sunday morning (May 5), emergency services responded to a call from a residential area on Kingsdale Drive, in Bradford.

A woman and three children fled the burning property and were consequently brought to the hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening by West Yorkshire Police. Tragically, a fourth child was discovered within the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene after fire crews were first called at around 1am.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as both police and fire investigators conduct their inquiries. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police provided these details: "At 1.08 this morning (5 May) police were called by the fire service to reports of a serious house fire on Kingsdale Drive, Bradford."

"A woman and three children managed to escape the property and were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening."
