Child seriously injured after being hit by car in Plymouth

A child was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Plymouth. Two other children sustained injuries as a result of the collision on Raynham Road this morning (Tuesday, May 21).

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the crash at around 8.25am and road closures were put in place. It was initially reported that two pedestrians were injured but it has since been confirmed that the collision involved three children.

Police said one of them suffered serious but not life-changing injuries. The other two sustained minor injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police initially said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Raynham Road, Plymouth, at around 8.25am today, Tuesday 21 May.

"Emergency services are at the scene. Two people are reported to have been injured and have been taken to hospital.

"Local road closures have been put in place. The incident is ongoing."

Police said they were unable to give details regarding the driver of the vehicle. It is understood no arrests have been made.
