Child struck by car Friday morning, driver ticketed in Evergreen Park

A car struck a child in Evergreen Park at about 8 a.m. Friday, according to police.

A crossing guard was leading children across 95th Street at the Homan Avenue intersection when the red light turned green, leading the driver to accelerate, though one child was still in the process of crossing, according to a statement from police Lt. Wendi Franklin.

The child was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and was being treated for minor injuries, according to the Evergreen Park Police Department. The driver of the vehicle was issued traffic citations.
