A child was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in the town of Shotton, Flintshire. The incident occurred on Chester Road West just before 12.30pm on Wednesday.

Paramedics were joined at the scene by an air ambulance crew, which then flew to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. It was later confirmed by police that the child was transported to the hospital via "road ambulance".

In a statement, North Wales Police said: "We were called at 12.26pm today to a report of a road traffic collision on Chester Road West, Shotton involving a car and a child. Officers have attended along with colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service and the air ambulance. The child was taken to hospital via a road ambulance."

Locals were advised to steer clear of the area as emergency services attended to the situation, causing heavy traffic in the vicinity, reports North Wales Live. The road was reopened shortly before 2.25pm.
