'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' star Chance Perdomo sadly passes away, age 27

Chance Perdomo, the American-British actor, has sadly passed away at the age of 27 following a motorcyle accident.

“On behalf of the family and his representatives, it is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident,” read a statement released by Perdomo's publicist, confirming his passing on 30 March.

No further details of the incident, including where and when it took place, were released. However, it was confirmed that no one else was involved in the crash.

Within a career that spanned both television and film Perdomo gained acclaim for a variety of roles, including that of Ambrose in the Netflix Sabrina reboot, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

He was also known for playing Landon Gibson in the After film franchise alongside Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin; a role which he undertook for the third (After We Fell), fourth (After Ever Happy) and fifth (After Everything) iterations of the series of romantic films.

Other roles included Andre Anderson in the television show Gen V, a spinoff to superhero series The Boys, and Snork, a role which he voiced for the British-Finnish show Moominvalley.

Born in Los Angeles, Perdomo was brought up in Southampton after he moved to the UK as a child with his mother. After initially aiming to complete a degree in Law, he opted to explore the world of acting and joined the National Youth Theatre and studied acting at Identity School of Acting; which numbers John Boyega, Damson Idris, Regé-Jean Page and Lydia West among its alumni.

In 2019, his efforts were awarded with a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Award and a Screen International Star of Tomorrow title.

News of Perdomo's death was met with sadness by the cast and crew of Gen V, with the producers sharing a touching statement following the announcement.

"We can't quite wrap our heads around this," the statement read. "For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person."

“Even writing about him in the past doesn't make sense," the statement continued. "We are so sorry for Chance's family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”

Amazon MGM and Sony Productions Television, the companied behind the series, also released a statement.

“The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo," it reads. "[We] extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance's family and all who loved him at this difficult time."
