New Chinese restaurant to open in Montpelier

A new Chinese restaurant is to open in Montpelier next week. WANGS will be opening on the small square where Picton Street meets York Road next Wednesday (July 3).

It will be headed by Emily Xin Xin Chan, former head chef at ex-Michelin-Guide restaurant Tare which shut down on Wapping Wharf earlier this month. The restaurant - opposite Bianchis - will bring "flavours from across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Sichuan, Xinjiang and beyond" after "a year of sell-out pop-ups, supper clubs and collabs".

In a statement, WANGS said the menu will feature a diverse array of dishes that showcase the flavours and culinary heritage of China. It said: "Our menu is small but changing to ensure we can maintain both the highest quality ingredients and choice.

"We focus on handmade dumplings, wontons, Taiwanese fried chicken, fresh noodles, and sticky rice bowls. Wangs is in a converted fruit and veg shop.

"The interior lends itself to having a good night! Not your average Chinese restaurant vibe! At Wang's we complement our menu with a selection of fresh vibrant natural wines, cocktails and local draught beer."

"Our goal is to create a space where the neighbourhood can come together to enjoy delicious, authentic Chinese food and generally have a good time. Born in and bred in Hong Kong and being the daughter of a noodle shop owner back home I'm looking forward to serving our neighbours and adding to what already is an amazing food scene in Bristol."

Wangs is located at 66 Bath Buildings, Montpelier.
