Speaker of the House Lindsay Hoyle has retained his seat in Chorley. Tradition dictates that the main parties do not field a candidate in this seat to allow the Speaker a free run. Sir Lindsay has held the role of Speaker since 2019, but has represented Chorley since 1997.

However, in the 2024 General Election some parties did field candidates to go against Sir Lindsay. Candidates who stood included Mark Worsley Tebbutt for the Green Party, Martin Powell-Davies (TUSC), Graham Moore (ECP), and Ben Holden-Crowther (Democracy for Chorley).

  • Lindsay Hoyle(speaker)25,238

  • Mark Tebbutt(Green)4,663

  • Ben Holden-Crowther(Chorley)2,424

  • Graham Moore(ECP)1,007

  • Martin Powell-Davies(TUSC)632

Exit polls predict that Labour will have a landslide victory across the UK, with Sir Keir Starmer expected to become the next Prime Minister. It looks set to be a bad night for Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who are only predicted to win 131 seat - a huge loss of seats compared to 2019.

There are 15 seats up for grabs in Lancs - and for some seats there have been significant boundary changes. We'll be bringing you the latest news and updates from across the county and beyond.
