Chris Brown claims he was uninvited from playing in celeb basketball game

Chris Brown has claimed his invite to play in a celebrity basketball game was withdrawn because of his violent past.

The Run It! singer took to Instagram Stories on Saturday to share screenshots which appeared to show an email confirming his participation in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Indianapolis. However, Brown claimed the invite was retracted because the event sponsors didn’t want him to be involved.

“I was asked by the NBA to play in the all star game this year!” he wrote in a post to accompany the screenshots. “Only for them to call later and say they couldn’t do IT because of their sponsors like RUFFLES.”

Brown also posted images of a blue basketball uniform he was seemingly set to wear as a player on Lil Wayne’s team, as well an email regarding his travel and schedule for the sporting event, which took place on Friday.

The 34-year-old musician claimed that after his participation invite was withdrawn, he was offered seats to watch the basketball game instead.

“At this point I’m sick of people bothering me and I’m tired of living in the f**king past,” he fumed. “I POSTED THE EMAILS SO YALL COULD SEE. The NBA still was tryna get me to come and sit court side… NOT F**KING HAPPENING.”

Brown signed off by adding, “I ONLY GO WHERE IM APPRECIATED.”

In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault after he attacked his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

In 2017, his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran was awarded a five-year restraining order against the singer after she accused him of assault and threatening to kill her.

Sponsors Ruffles have responded to Brown's claims, telling Page Six in a statement: “Ruffles sponsored last night’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, however Ruffles did not have any involvement in, nor visibility to, any player decisions or celebrity invite discussions.”
