Chris Davies set for major boost as Birmingham City close on double transfer swoop

Birmingham City are closing in on two major transfer coups in the form of Dutch defender Mike Eerdhuijzen and prolific striker Alfie May.

BirminghamLive understands Eerdhuijzen and May are set to join Blues from Sparta Rotterdam and Charlton Athletic respectively. The duo will follow deals for goalkeepers Ryan Allsop and Bailey Peacock-Farrell in what is shaping up to be an impressive start to the transfer window.

Eerdhuijzen featured 20 times in the Eredivisie for Rotterdam last season, starting their final 16 games in succession, and helped them to an eighth-placed finish. The 23-year-old is a 6ft 4in, left-footed centre-back who has been capped by the Netherlands at under-20 level.

May needs no introduction to regular watchers of the EFL. No striker has been more prolific in League One than May in the past three seasons. May has enjoyed three consecutive 20-goal campaigns, two with Cheltenham Town and one with Charlton.

The 30-year-old striker looked set to join Huddersfield for much of this window but Blues hijacked their deal over the weekend and are now finalising personal terms. Blues are directly impacting two of their rivals for promotion by signing May.

If everything goes to plan, Eerdhuijzen and May will take Blues' new signings tally to four and give Chris Davies a strong option at either end of the field.
