Chris Evans has confirmed that he will take part in Strictly Come Dancing next year.
The radio and TV presenter broke the news during an appearance on The One Show last night, giving Matt Baker and Alex Jones the scoop.
Asked to ‘confirm or deny’ rumours he was set for the ballroom, he said: “Well, I have said yes. I have said yes.
“Only because my wife wants to go every week! You [two] know, you get a pair of tickets, don’t you? Okay, you [Alex] and my wife will go every week and have a great time while I’ll be petrified backstage. Shaky legs and all that stuff!
“I saw the commissioning editors, and we had a conversation. [They] said, ‘This is what you need to know about it. This is the minimum. This is the maximum. It’s not as easy as maybe you imagine it is’.
“I think what’s funny about it is, everybody puts it off and tries to keep it a secret. No, announce now!”
Evans, who recently quit Radio 2 for Virgin Radio, could be joining Alan Carr on the bill for next year’s show.
The comedian, having appeared on the final show to read its voting terms and conditions, said he’d been later been approached by the show’s producers.
“Listen. I will do it but next year I have a busy year, I’m going on tour,” the Chattyman star said on Loose Women.
“I would do it but listen I hate those VTs where they’re like ‘hello, we’re doing salsa so we’re off to a dips factory’. Like, what?
“You know what I mean, they go to Chester Zoo or a museum. And it’s like ‘no, I need to be in a studio doing the Argentine Tango.’”
