Chris Hemsworth has hailed his daughter India as his "favourite superhero" following her cameo in the latest Thor film.

The Marvel movie star posted a throw-back picture of India as a baby on the set of the original Thor 11 years ago, dwarfed by his bulky costume and magic hammer.

The 38-year-old actor compared it to a second black-and-white image of himself cuddling India on his lap on set of the new sequel Thor: Love and Thunder - in which she cameos.

Hemsworth captioned the post on Instagram: "Here’s two pics of me and my daughter. One was the first time she was on set 11 years ago, the other is the most recent on Thor: Love and Thunder. She’s my favourite superhero."

India cameos in Thor 4 as the daughter of villain Gorr The God Butcher, played by Christian Bale.

Her death in the opening scenes of the movie sparks Gorr's God-killing rampage, and he uses his one wish at Eternity to bring her back to life. Before he dies he asks Thor to take care of her, and the movie ends with Thor looking after Love, as she is named, and taking her into battle.

Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky are also parents to eight-year-old twin sons, Tristan and Sasha.

They also cameo in the movie as young Thor in flashback scenes.

Love and Thunder sees Hemsworth return as God of War opposite Natalie Portman as his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, aka Mighty Thor.

The film follows Thor on a quest for inner peace, but this is interrupted by galactic killer Gorr the God Butcher whose aim is to destroy all the gods.

The latest MCU release is the fourth solo Thor movie following 2017's box-office hit Thor: Ragnarok.

The film was shot at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia, in 2021 and it utilises the same StageCraft virtual production technology that was used in Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian.

Like a lot of Marvel releases, it has experienced several delays.
