Chris Sutton voices concern over Leeds United's form in Championship promotion race

Chris Sutton has expressed his concerns over Leeds United's dropped points in recent weeks as the club risks entering the Championship Play-Offs instead of automatic promotion.

Any hopes of joining Leicester City with a straightforward bounce back to the Premier League have been dented in recent weeks due to the results Daniel Farke's men have not managed to pick up.

One win against Middlesbrough in their last five has allowed Ipswich Town - who have also slipped up during the run-in - to keep their fate in their own hands. During their current run, Leeds have lost to Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers and most recently 4-0 away to Queens Park Rangers, as well as a 0-0 stalemate with Sunderland.

Discussing footballing matters with supporters during a live BBC 606 Football Phone In after the QPR defeat, Sutton asked: "Leeds United, what is going on there? They’ve lost three out of their last five and what an opportunity it is for Ipswich Town."

The result also confirmed Leicester's return to the top-flight as Championship champions, and the Foxes partied well into Friday night much to their rivals' chagrin.

Leeds now face a final day of the season clash with Southampton in the knowledge that only victory will do. Ipswich Town have a critical game in hand tomorrow against Coventry City then play Leeds' rivals Huddersfield Town - who are as good as relegated - on the final day.

If the Tractor Boys win both, no Leeds result will matter, however slip ups in the form of one loss out of two, or two draws would hand the opportunity back to Farke's side.
