Christina Applegate shares heartbreaking update amid her MS battle: 'I'm gonna be honest...'
Christina Applegate can no longer shower because of her MS.
The 52-year-old actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis - a degenerative neurological condition that can cause problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance - in 2021 and revealed on Monday's (02.04.24) episode of her 'MeSsy' podcast that she has been using wet wipes for almost a month now because she cannot stand up in her bathroom.
She told co-host Jamie Lynn Sigler: "I’m gonna be honest with you, I need to buy stock in Cottonelle because I haven’t taken a shower in three weeks. I can't stand in my shower There's no f****** way! “I have such a small bench and my a** is so huge these days that I can’t sit on it, it’s like I slip right off of it. … So, I’ve been Cottonelle-ing my body."
The former 'Married... with Children' star - who has 12-year-old daughter Sadie with husband Martyn LeNoble - joked that she is pleased to be alone so much and added that even her little girl always tells her that she smells "bad".
She said: "Thank God I’m always alone so that no one smells me. [Sadie’s] always like, ‘Oh Mama, that’s bad.’ I make her smell my armpits, just to make her vomit.”
Towards the end of March, Christina admitted that she uses her "sick sense of humour" to get through her health woes.
Appearing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' with a cane to help her walk, she quipped: "I was thinking wouldn't it be funny if I came out and I did a somersault like Willy Wonka?
"And then I was like ta-da, you'd be... 'She is such a liar.' I'm not. I literally am disabled."
Jimmy replied: "I learned from our text exchanges you have a very sick sense of humour."
And the 'Dead To Me' star admitted: "It's how I live. It's how I keep myself okay."
