Christina Hall Reveals She and Heather El Moussa Have ‘Been Close for a While Now’ (Exclusive)

The ‘Christina on the Coast’ star reflected on the progress she’s made with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa’s wife during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE

Christina Hall is opening up about her relationship with Heather El Moussa.

The HGTV star, 40, revealed she and her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa’s wife, 36, have come a long way since their initial rocky start while speaking exclusively with PEOPLE about the upcoming season of Christina on the Coast (premiering July 11).

“We've actually been close for a while now,” Hall tells PEOPLE, referring to Heather. “We communicate about the kids all the time. She's an amazing stepmom — the kids love her so much.”

Hall was previously married to Tarek, 42, until the pair announced their split in December 2016 following seven years of marriage and two children together: daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8.

Heather, who tied the knot with Tarek in October 2021, has been open about how she loves being a stepmom and how it’s made her “a better person.”

The Christina in the Country star continues, “People like to take drama and then spin it and act like no one's getting along, but the reality is everyone's gotten along for a really long time and co-parenting is very important to us.”

She adds that “everything is actually boring, which is great,” especially after she and Heather hit a rough patch in 2022 when the pair were photographed getting into a heated discussion at one of Brayden’s soccer games.

While Hall and Heather have made amends since then, the designer tells PEOPLE the pair don’t hang out one on one or as a group with her new husband Josh Hall, 43, and Tarek.

“We see Heather at sports games mostly, and Heather and I have had dinner alone together. But no, I wouldn't say that we all hang out by any means,” Christina says.

Both Heather and Christina have been poking fun at their past feud through a series of promo videos for their new show The Flip Off. The new competition series is set to premiere in 2025 and will follow Christina and Josh as they go head to head with Tarek and Heather.

The show marks Tarek and Christina's first time working together since Flip or Flop ended after nine years in March 2022.

In one of the latest promo clips, Heather and Christina are seen lip-synching to Big Sean’s “I Don’t F--- with You” after they pull over in matching white cars to have a confrontation. The video ends with Christina flipping her middle finger at the Selling Sunset alum as the two then drive off in their respective cars.

“Wait was I in the G Wag or Bentley? I forget? 🤷🏼‍♀️,” Christina jokingly wrote under the post that Heather shared jointly with her and Tarek.

When she’s not busy promoting The Flip Off, Christina is gearing up for an all-new season of Christina on the Coast premiering on Thursday, July 11.

The mom of three — she also shares son Hudson, 4, with ex Ant Anstead — told PEOPLE that the latest installment of the fan-favorite renovation series features “huge transformations” that are “bigger than any other season.”

This time around, Christina gets to remodel her childhood home and take on her parents as clients, which she says she can’t wait for fans to see in the premiere episode.

“I'm super excited for the first episode because I get to do my childhood home with my parents, and there's just a lot of funny moments of the family dynamic,” she tells PEOPLE. “I think viewers are just really going to enjoy the entire episode.”

Christina on the Coast season 5 premieres Thursday, July 11 at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV.
