Now that Halloween is out of the way, the build up to Christmas can officially begin.

Festive decorations, mulled wine and Christmas markets will help distract us from the cold weather and longer nights. But, none of these are complete without an outlandish, vibrant jumper in support of Christmas Jumper Day.

The annual event sees Save the Children raise money for kids in the UK and across the globe as millions of people don a festive outfit and donate to the charity if they have the finances to do so.

If you are going through financially tough times and can’t donate, you are still welcomed to be a part of the day.

This year, the beloved special occasion is set to take place on Thursday, December 8, 2022. But, Save the Children says, if Thursday doesn’t work for you, then you can do it on any other day that suits you.

You don’t have to buy a new jumper either. In fact, the organisation suggests decorating an old jumper, or swapping jumpers with your friend instead of purchasing a new one.

In previous years, Save the Children would collaborate with retailers to create new Christmas jumpers for sale. However, they have decided against it this year.

And, the UK Government has promised to match all donations. So, every time you donate £2 to Save the Children, so will the Government.

The charity is hoping to spend the money raised on helping mothers and babies in Kenya.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, you can get involved by filling out the charity’s Christmas Jumper Day sign-up page.

You can also help out by setting up a JustGiving fundraising page online and raising money. With the charity’s focus on sustainability, they won’t be sending out any paper fundraising packs this year.
