Manchester United are threatening to become a serious, well-oiled machine when it comes to transfer recruitment for the men's team.

Having finally landed Newcastle's sporting director, Dan Ashworth, this week, the Reds have also appointed Christopher Vivell to their boardroom on a short-term deal. The 37-year-old will be advising the Ineos regime on player recruitment, having left his role at Chelsea last July.

Much has been made about his ability to unearth talents, with the key name being Manchester City's talisman, Erling Haaland, and the hope will be that the German can do similarly for United this summer. In fact, there is one player who would be ideal for United this summer and whom he has already tapped up previously: Benjamin Sesko.

The catch here is that Sesko has already committed himself to another season in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Considering Vivell's contract is currently short-term, United would have to extend his deal to ensure he can play an impact next summer when the Slovenian international becomes available.

But considering the potential the 21-year-old possesses, it could be well worth United getting all the advantages they can. Arsenal and Chelsea both joined the Reds in their interest in Sesko last summer, but we can guarantee that the number of clubs wanting his signature will only increase if he performs for RB Leipzig next season.

It is understood that a gentleman's agreement is in place between Sesko and Leipzig about him leaving for a bigger club in the near future. United will need to be on their toes if they are going to beat their rivals to him, and Vivell could play a key role in that.

Ultimately, Sesko would be considered a dream signing for Old Trafford's new regime. He ticks the youth box, he ticks the proven goalscorer box, and if you throw in his strength and speed, you have yourself a player with all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.
