A beloved theatre, library and six shops situated in the heart of Bromley are up for sale on RightMove.

A photo circling the Churchill Theatre with the title “land for sale” is currently advertised.

The building comprises a parade of six shops (sold off long leasehold), library and theatre building across up to 13 storeys.

The land covers 0.6 acres and is subject to existing leases with unconditional offers invited for the freehold interest.

The cost of the building is listed as Price on Application (POA) on RightMove.

Despite the advertisement, a spokesperson for Bromley Council said it is "continuing with plans" to ensure that a state-of-the art theatre remains "anchored" at the "very heart" of Bromley Town Centre.

A spokesperson said: "Whilst discussions remain ongoing with the theatre’s current operators Trafalgar Group, the council is also going out to market to invite additional expressions of interest, to secure the future of the theatre, in line with its statutory duty to obtain best value for Council Tax payers money, prior to reaching a final decision.

“Our ambitions for Bromley Town centre remain undimmed, despite the well-publicised squeeze on local councils’ funding.

"There is still much work to be done and further news will follow when appropriate.”

The Churchill Theatre is home to many west-end and local community performances, including upcoming shows SIX, The Rocky Horror Show, Only Fools and Horses the Musical, and Swan Lake.

Situated in the Metropolitan Green Belt, Bromley is much more rural than the majority of the capital but allows access into Central London in under 20 minutes.

Bromley is located about 9 miles from Junctions 3 and 4 of the M25, accessible via the A20 and A21.

The town is a popular commuter hub with excellent rail services from Bromley North and South stations, both just 0.3 miles from the High Street.

The High Street itself offers a variety of shops and restaurants, including the Glades shopping centre.
