Cindy Crawford is not in the business of giving unsolicited advice.

The supermodel, 58, opened up about motherhood while appearing on the Saturday, May 11, episode of Christy Turlington Burns and Kelly Corrigan’s new five-part podcast series, Kelly Corrigan Wonders: About Your Mother.

The podcast features guests, including Jennifer Garner, Amy Schumer, Spike Lee and Bono, who reveal intimate details about their relationships with their moms, with a goal of raising $100,000 for Turlington Burns' organization Every Mother Counts, a nonprofit that advocates for safe maternal and postpartum health care.

When asked what the best piece of advice her own mother gave her, Crawford said one of her favorite quotes of hers was, “Show up, shut up and wear beige.”

“It’s about when you’re showing up for your kids or… it would be more I guess if you were to be the perfect mother-in-law at a wedding,” the model recalled. “She’s like, ‘It’s not about you, you don’t want to stand out.’"

She added that the “best advice” her mom ever gave her was, “Don’t give advice unless [it’s] asked for,” which she does her best to implement with her own kids.

“They know if they ask me, they’re going to get my real opinion,” Crawford explained. “But if they don’t ask me… I really try hard, and I’m probably about 70 percent good at this… I try not to offer unsolicited advice.”

Crawford shares son Presley Gerber, 24, and daughter Kaia Gerber, 22, with her husband, Rande Gerber. Both Presley and Kaia have followed in their mother’s footsteps and pursued modeling careers.

When Kaia was first starting out in modeling, Crawford shared some of the advice she passed on to the then-16-year-old.

“I’m so happy for Kaia and tell her there are no beauty secrets but she needs to remember to take off her makeup before she goes to bed each night,” Crawford told PEOPLE in 2017. “I also tell her not to over-tweeze her eyebrows because they won’t necessarily grow back.”

The supermodel also admitted that her kids can teach her a thing or two.

“I can suggest these health and beauty tips from my own experience but when it comes to modern technology, I have both of my kids advise me!” she added with a laugh.

On the April 8 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kaia recalled one of the more unorthodox ways her mom prepared her for her very first runway show in September 2017.

“I remember right before I was going to do my first-ever fashion show, she sat me down and had my whole family gather around and played me compilation videos of models falling,” Kaia told host Jimmy Fallon. “I think to be like, ‘This is the worst case scenario.’ And I was like, ‘I didn’t even know you could fall this many different ways.’”

She added, “Knock on wood, I haven’t ever fallen. Maybe she scared me enough that I didn’t fall.”
