Cinematic Cheddar and Wells roads closed for filming

A STRETCH of tree-lined roads between Cheddar and Wells will be closed for "filming" next week.

Somerset Council gave notice that the two country lanes would be closed on June 25 between the hours of 7am and 6pm.

The roads are Westbury Drove (Broad Road) - between its junction with B3135 Roemead Road and Stancombe Lane - in conjunction with Coxton End Road in Cheddar, from its Westbury Drove junction to the junction with Dale Lane.

Although no details on what is being filmed have been released, director Danny Boyle's horror movie sequel, 28 Years Later, is reportedly being filmed in the area next month.

Derek Bradley-Balmer, chairman of Cheddar Parish Council, told The Sun last week: "There is a film production company that want to film around Cheddar Gorge and have offered a compensation payment to pay for our toilets."

A Cheddar Gorge toilet block in the vicinity, Dagd Hole toilet block, has reportedly been saved from closure until September as a result.
