City of Toronto's snow removal flyer elicits juvenile reaction from Twitter
A flyer distributed by the City of Toronto intended to educate the public on snow clearing plans was instead met with juvenile reactions from many on Twitter.
“Winter is coming and so are we” reads the front copy of the city’s pamphlet for its VisionZero road safety plan. The flyer includes information on when snow is cleared and where residents can find snow plow maps. One Twitter user, however, was struck by the pamphlet's slogan, putting a more NSFW spin on the city's intention.
city of toronto, you needed a copyeditor on staff for this one. pic.twitter.com/rM8r7u1WJX

Brad Ross, Chief Communications Officer for the city of Toronto, agrees that the flyer appears to be doing its job right.
“The adults in the room didn’t have the same reaction to the mailer’s wording as some others have,” he told Yahoo Canada News in an email. “But we’re happy people are reading the City’s material – material that isn’t actually hidden on the top shelf of a convenience store or wrapped in a brown paper bag – and that’s what’s important: knowing the City of Toronto is ready for winter.”
Many (snow)piled into the replies with their take on the oddly worded flyer:
Always run your logos, taglines and ad copy through a group of 12-year-old boys.

They don’t need an editor, the copywriter needs a raise - they know what they did.

Maybe the City is trying to turn everyone on… to the idea of all those Plows, and Shovels, and Safety Pylons… 🤤 So hot ; - )

Ottawa Public Health couldn’t stop themselves from leaving a remark.
Whelp, guess we can't use that slogan for our new #SafeSex campaign anymore 🤷♂️
We'll come up with a new one.
Either way, wear condoms, eh?— Ottawa Public Health (@OttawaHealth) December 14, 2022
One user said it reminded them of another misinterpreted campaign slogan.
This reminds me Kristi Noem’s campaign against methamphetamine addiction. pic.twitter.com/snH7ux5fVS

Some felt it was a reference to the popular Game of Thrones tagline:

Another user pointed out that it appears the campaign is a success:
The fact that you are tweeting about it and getting lots of comments means that their campaign was a huge success. No review needed
