The re-opening of the Civic Hall in Bedworth has been 'guaranteed' after a big funding bid success. It means that the venue, in the heart of the town, will be able to re-open its doors after four years.

The Bedworth Civic Hall CIO, the volunteer-led community group chosen by the borough council to run venue, has confirmed that it has secured £165,000 in funding. It says this means its lease with the council can become live and the doors can open in July.

Sam Magrave, chair and CEO of the group, said: "We have been awarded £165,000 towards delivering our ACT ONE Community Ownership and Transformation Project: Bedworth Civic Hall and Community Hub aka reopening. Our bid was highly praised and we are looking forward to putting our ideas into action."

"We can't wait for people to come through the doors again." He went on to thank those who have supported the group's work to secure the venue's future after the council announced the Civic Hall would not re-open as an entertainment venue once it stopped being used as a Covid-jab hub.

"From those who fought from day one, to those who came to meetings and those who told us what they wanted to see at the venue and supported us," he said. "You all made a difference and made this happen. A special thanks to Nikki Marie who sat with me and we shared in writing the bid. We achieved this as a team."
