Classmates, Friends March for Student Killed in Caracas Protests

Classmates and friends of Juan Pablo Pernalete, a 20-year-old student killed during protests on Wednesday, marched on April 27 to honor him and to protest against violent suppression tactics used by police.

Pernalete was an economics student and basketball player at the Metropolitan University of Caracas, according to reports. News articles citing the paramedic who reportedly tried to aid him said he died several hours after being shot in the chest by a tear gas canister during anti-government protests in Caracas.
