Cleaning oven doors can sometimes fall down the list of household tasks, but when it's neglected, food and grease spatters often build up and burn into the surface.

These burnt-on stains are tough to shift, no matter how much elbow grease is involved, but they need addressing as they could harbour bacteria that may contaminate your food.

Bringing light to this issue is Lynsey Crombie, who's garnered a reputation as Britain's answer to cleaning woes known as the Queen of Clean, stressed the importance of scrubbing oven doors to ensure proper functioning.

In an Instagram post, Lynsey said: "A sparkling clean oven is much more efficient, creates less smoke and burning and allows the smell of your delicious dinner to waft around your home."

However, banishing those stubborn grime patches doesn't have to be a source of frustration if you employ the right products - namely baking soda and washing-up liquid, reports the Express.

How to get rid of grease stains from your glass oven doors

What you'll need:

According to Lynsey, most things required can probably be found in your pantry already. Baking soda works wonders owing to its mild alkalinity, making it excellent at breaking down acidic grease, oils and food remnants.

Blended with water, baking soda can disintegrate those burned on grease marks into smaller particles, easily swept away afterwards.

Dish soap is specifically formulated to tackle grease, thanks to the surfactants it contains. These are highly effective at penetrating and loosening grease burns, helping to dissolve them for easier cleaning.

Here's how to do it:

Start by pouring a good amount of baking soda onto the oven door. Wet a scrubbing brush and gently move the baking soda around until it forms a thick paste.

Next, apply the dish soap to the scrubbing brush and gently spread it evenly across the oven door, mixing it into the baking soda paste.

If the paste feels too thick, add more water to the mixture. If it seems too thin, sprinkle on a bit more baking soda.

Once you've applied the mixture evenly to the oven door, let it sit for at least 15 minutes to an hour. For oven doors that haven't been cleaned in a while, it's best to leave the baking soda paste to sit overnight.

After the time has passed, wet the scrubbing brush again and wipe the door. The dirty stains should easily wipe away.

Scrub away any stubborn stains, and once the oven is clean, use a paper towel to wipe away any remaining baking soda paste.

Finally, use a microfibre cloth and water to thoroughly rinse away the baking soda residue. Your oven should now be clean and free from grease.

In Lysney's comment section, many people praised her straightforward solution for cleaning oven door stains without using any harsh chemicals.

One person praised: "Love your tips like the fact they're tried and tested thoroughly so I can just go for it knowing it'll do the trick."

Another participant commented: "I love how you clean with natural products - great clean."

An additional user remarked: "It looks so clean! I'm going to try this as this seems more environmentally friendly and easier on your hands than using an oven cleaner."
