Oven cleaning is often considered one of the most daunting household tasks, particularly when using ineffective products. Despite white vinegar and baking soda being highly recommended by cleaning influencers for oven maintenance, a natural alternative has been hailed as "working better" by both a homeowner and cleaning professionals.

On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, Becca Dwyer posted an image of her mother's oven glass door caked in dark grease and explained her method for achieving a "sparkling" result. Her post read: "Hi. This is the glass from my mother's oven door I was cleaning her oven today as she can't bend down."

"I've tried Pink Stuff paste, Elbow Grease cream, dishwasher tablet, aerial pod also baking soda and vinegar but nothing shifted it.", reports the Express. Online oven-cleaning hacks frequently suggest a baking soda and vinegar paste, yet this combination proves futile against stubborn oven glass grime.

Becca, however, opted for an alternative approach, stating: "Someone then suggested soda crystals to me and it worked so much better than anything I've tried. It's now sparkling."

Dri-Pak experts concur that the mix of baking soda and vinegar is not the optimal choice, commenting: "One thing that isn't really the best solution, despite lots of internet tips, is to use bicarbonate of soda and then add white vinegar. The effect will be reduced because the acid white vinegar is neutralising the alkalinity of the baking soda and it's that that dissolves the grease."

On the other hand, they recommend using soda crystals too. They expressed: "Soda crystals are excellent for dissolving grease and working on stubborn, burnt-on food."

You can prepare a robust soda crystals solution or lavishly spray liquid soda crystals on your oven door and the rest of the oven. It's best left on the soda crystal treatment for at least 20 minutes before wiping down the oven.

Repeat this method on any obstinate parts of the oven or apply dry soda crystals which aspire to work as an abrasive, followed by scrubbing with a cloth.

There is another alternative natural method households can use to clean their oven door glass - lemons. A prominent cleaning influencer professed her exclusive use of lemons for cleaning her oven, discarding store-bought oven cleaners altogether.
