Clip resurfaces of June Brown's 'iconic' meeting with Lady Gaga

A clip has resurfaced of June Brown meeting Lady Gaga on The Graham Norton Show in 2013 has resurfaced following the EastEnders legend's death at the age of 95.

Brown and the pop star appeared together on an episode of the BBC chat show in 2013 and in the clip, Gaga can be seen enthusiastically greeting Brown while wearing an extravagant outfit.

Gaga is visibly delighted to see the soap icon who appeared in EastEnders for over 30 years before finally departing the show in 2020.

They then sat on Norton's sofa with a glass of wine each when Gaga said to Brown: "I am a really big fan of yours. You are so fabulously dressed. I am honoured to be sitting next to you."

She then took a sip from Brown's own glass: "I want to drink from your cup to see what those genes are."

Following their well-received appearance on the show, Brown later revealed that Gaga had asked her out to a nightclub.

Brown also spoke to the Daily Star about her encounter with Gaga: "She was so funny, intelligent and down to earth, but when she went in front of the press, you could see her put the Gaga persona on."

Fans are also fondly remembering the moment with one tweeting: "I will never not smile at this video of June Brown and Lady Gaga - a true match made in heaven. Stay fabulous, queen. A true national treasure."

Another fan wrote: “June Brown always seemed like such good fun. I will forever love this moment she had with Lady Gaga."

"Never forget when Lady Gaga fell in love with June Brown - an iconic moment between two icons," was tweeted by another person.

Brown's death was confirmed today by her family. They said in a statement that she died at her home in Surrey on 3 April surrounded by her love ones.

Several former co-stars including Adam Woodyatt, Gillian Taylforth and Milly Zero have posted tributes to Brown.

An EastEnders spokesperson also said: "June created one of the most iconic characters in Dot Cotton, not just in soap but in British television, and having appeared in 2884 episodes, June's remarkable performances created some of EastEnders finest moments."
