Closed down Blackpool restaurants that locals wish were still open

Towns and cities across the UK change over the years but it can be upsetting when our favourite restaurants and shops leave the high street.

Blackpool has seen a variety of restaurants come and go with some locals wishing they could still visit their favourites for a bite to eat.

To find out which ones they miss the most, we asked Lancashire Telegraph readers which restaurants they wish were still open in Blackpool.

Following the vote, the results show that Lobster Pot is the most popular restaurant that locals wish they could still visit.

One said: “It was a treat to go to the Lobster Pot” while others simply commented the name of the restaurant.

Lobster Pot wasn't the only restaurant mentioned though as other locals shared their thoughts.

One local commented: “Henry's! 1940s/50s styles restaurant. Fabulous”, adding: “closed in 1990s” with a sad face emoji.

Another said a restaurant at Lewis's department store is one they visited as a “birthday treat” and wish was still open.

They said: “LEWIS 'S Department store restaurant on the top floor was like walking on to a cruise liner deck. Port holes and all.. A November birthday treat when I was younger.”

A third reminisced about their time at “The original Pablos ice cream parlour”.

One local couldn't think of the name of the place she was thinking of, writing: “The one on the front that had 'JUGS OF TEA FOR THE BEACH'. Where you had to dodge the trams, traffic and donkeys to get your tray of tea pots cups and saucers onto the beach without dropping anything.”

Other restaurants mentioned include Capri Grill, Autumn Leaves, American Pancake House and more.
