Feb. 23—DAR

The Lone Tree Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, met Dec. 4,2023 at The Branch in Greensburg.

There were eight regular members, one prospective member, two associate members and the Southern District Director of INDAR.

Members told of their favorite Christmas song/songs. Six prospective member applications were signed and prepared to mail to Washington, D.C.

The chapter is updating a book on Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Decatur County. There are approximately 40 to 45 of them as of the last count. The chapter applied for and received the America 250 grant from National to complete this project. These books will be given to members, the schools, libraries and nursing homes.

Several members laid wreaths from Wreaths Across America on Revolutionary War soldiers' graves around the county and the only Medal of Honor recipient at South Park Cemetery.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a service organization open to any woman who can prove lineal descent of a patriot who served or fought in the American Revolution. If you would like more information, email darlonetreechapter@gmail.com or dar.org.

Zeta Tau

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Zeta Tau members met at Milroy United Methodist Church for a chapter monthly meeting. Laura Jessup and Carolanna Yager provided a tasty pizza meal for the members. Eighteen of 19 members were present. Prospective member Terri VanSchoyck was also was present.

The meeting was opened by President Angie Fette. Members recited the Opening Verse. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were accepted.

Julie Tackett read the letter of the upcoming State meeting in Crawsfordsville on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Several members are going to attend.

Reports were given by the Standing Committees concerning the chapter's monthly reports. The 2024/2025 budget will be presented next month and voted on at the April meeting, Mental Health Chair Julie Tackett reported that the two nursing homes in Rushville appreciated the Christmas presents that the members bought and wrapped. Nominations for the 2024/2025 officers were presented by Carolanna Yager.

Project Reports that concern our fundraisers for the philanthropic projects were stated. Our fundraiser with Cynthia's Fashion Show in Greenfield did quite well. Our chapter has a flower project with Sunrise Greenhouse and Rebecca's Greenhouse. Certificates will be passed out to members next month. Our Raise Right app is going well.

Our chapter's 60th anniversary is Oct. 11 and a trip is being planned for our members. Our chapter was chartered in 1964.

Our chapter will contribute to Milroy Elementary's kindergarten classes for each child to plan and have their own personal book: I Like Me. The kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Carly Moore, will work with each student for their own information for their book. We will present the books to the kindergarteners at a later date.

Our chapter will provide a bicycle for the Spring Fling at Milroy Elementary.

Birthdays and anniversaries were mentioned.

Brags and Complaints provides dollars that are used for our chapter's project. Several gave a dollar or more and reported on happenings in their lives.

A social has been planned for our members. It will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Pudder's in Shelbyville. Members need to RSVP to Dana Fussner by Monday, March 4.

Our next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Milroy United Methodist Church with Judy Miller and Barb Stiers as hostesses for the evening
