Leicester City’s bid for Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa has been rebuffed by his club’s president.

City are said to have made a £15m offer for Sosa, who plays for Talleres in Argentina. But Andres Fasi, the club’s president is reported to have told local media: “The offers that have arrived do not satisfy what the player represents.”

But it does not seem Talleres are closed off to a sale. Their manager Walter Ribonetto said of Sosa in June: "Obviously, if given the choice, I would prefer to keep him, but I think it’s difficult because of the situation that clubs often need to sell."

Sosa has been performing very well for his club, with seven goals and six assists in 21 outings this calendar year. The 24-year-old, who most regularly plays off the left flank, cutting in onto his right foot, has excellent speed and footwork and is one of the most dangerous ball carriers playing in Argentina.

That’s caught the eye of a few clubs. Everton and Newcastle have also been listed as interested parties, while LA Galaxy made a club-record bid for him in the winter.

Sosa is currently playing for Paraguay at Copa America, albeit the country have been eliminated before their final group game against Costa Rica in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They lost their first two group matches to Colombia and Brazil.

Playing on the left, Sosa would be a rival to Stephy Mavididi if he was to join City. Mavididi made the spot his own as City won the Championship, netting 13 goals in all competitions last season, putting him behind only Jamie Vardy in the club’s scoring charts.
