Co Derry boy who died after quad bike crash to be remembered with charity tractor run

A teenage boy who sadly died following a quad bike crash in Co Derry is to be remembered with a charity tractor run next month.

Isaac Roxborough was just 14 when he passed away a day after the collision on a back road near the village of Eglinton on June 28.

The community in Burnfoot, just outside Dungiven, has now announced their annual tractor run will be held in memory of Isaac who "loved his tractors so much".

Following the collision on the Ballygudden Road last month, Isaac was given assistance from staff at the nearby Eglinton Medical Centre, before he was rushed in the Air Ambulance to hospital where he sadly died.

In a statement published on social media following the tragedy, Isaac's father Mark said: "I would like to thank all those who came to Isaac’s aid at the scene of his accident, the local community, the medical staff at Eglinton medical centre, the PSNI, air ambulance and all the staff at the Royal Victoria hospital.

"The family are grateful for all the much needed prayers and the messages of support at this difficult time from everyone."

In a statement published by the Burnfoot Hub community group this week, a spokesperson said: "Two weeks ago our Community was rocked by the devastating news of the passing of Isaac. Isaac was a great lad and a big part of our community along with his parents Mark and Katrina.

"Our annual Tractor run will now be known as The Isaac Roxborough Memorial Tractor Run as he loved his tractors so much!"

The community group statement continued: "The date of our run this year is Friday the 23rd August , proceeds will be shared with ourselves and NI air ambulance who came to Isaacs aid.

Tomorrow at our 11th July funday Isaac was to play the lambeg Drum for us so as a mark of respect for this beautiful boy we will have a minute silence at 4.30pm, followed by our National Athem."
