Cold Feet is officially getting the gang back together again as filming on the upcoming ninth season has gotten underway in Manchester.

Back in June, it was confirmed that the hit ITV and Big Talk series would be returning for season 9 in 2020 but we've had very little news since then, making this a very exciting update.

And, if that's not enough good news to go on, the show has also confirmed some of the new guest stars we can expect to see when it returns next year too, revealing that Ackley Bridge and former Casualty star Sunetra Sarker, The Trip's Claire Keelan and Bridget Jones star Gemma Jones (aka Bridget's mum Pam) will all feature in the new episodes.

Of course, we'll also be seeing the return of stars James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst, Fay Ripley and John Thomson too as another emotional chapter in Adam, Karen, David, Jenny and Pete's lives unfolds.

Season 9 will see Adam (Nesbitt) and Karen (Norris) juggling their new relationship alongside the challenges posed by the new blended family they've created, and things only get more difficult when an unexpected visitor arrives and upsets their new normal.

Meanwhile, Karen's ex David (Bathurst) is still at odds with his former best friend, and his and Adam's ongoing feud leaves Pete (Thomson) right in the middle of things and fed up of it – especially as he's got other things on his mind when his wife Jenny's (Ripley) cancer treatment comes to an end.

Will the Giffords' life be able to get back to normal?

Ceallach Spellman, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sylvie Briggs, Jack Harper, Madeleine Edmondson, Michelle Holmes, Ivanno Jeremiah and Lucy Robinson are all set to return for series 9 too.

Speaking after the season 9 renewal earlier this year, creator and writer Mike Bullen said: "I think we were all overwhelmed by the amazing response to the latest series.

"Jenny's cancer in particular seemed to touch a nerve with viewers. There are still stories to tell for these characters, but I'm conscious that we've raised the bar.

"The delight at being recommissioned has already been replaced by trepidation at the weight of expectation."

Cold Feet airs on ITV and will return in 2020.
