Coleen Rooney won't be moving to Plymouth with the children after husband Wayne joined the South West city's football club as head coach.

The former Everton star is the new boss at Plymouth Argyle but the 38-year-old has said he won't be joined in Devon by Coleen and the couple's four children. During a Plymouth press conference at the club's Home Park ground on Thursday, Wayne confirmed that his wife won't be heading down to join him, OK reports.

When asked by sports reporter Amy Christophers if Coleen would be moving to Plymouth, the former England striker, from Croxteth, replied: "No she won't be. I think my children, my eldest son (Kai) is at a really important stage of his life, football as well as school."

He added: "Of course you miss them but this is my job, this is what I want to do, so you have to sacrifice certain things in order to be the best you can be.

"I'll see them as much as I can." Wayne was announced as the head coach for Plymouth Argyle in May and started working with the team at Home Park this week.

He was sacked by Birmingham City earlier this year in January after being in charge for 83 days. He added during the press conference at Home Park: "I think for my job, school work and the football at home as well is the most important thing."

"I don't want to take them away from that, although I'll speak to them every day."

Fourteen-year-old Kai Rooney, the eldest of the couple's four boys, has been tipped to follow in his father's footsteps after scoring his own "wonder goal" against Millwall in May, securing his Manchester United Under 14 team the Albert Phelan National Cup.
