Colin Farrell: 'I Sang Careless Whisper For Boyzone Audition'

Colin Farrell is now known as the Hollywood bad boy star from such movies as 'Total Recall' and 'In Bruges'. Yet his career could've taken a very different turn, as X Factor judge Louis Walsh asked him to join emerald isle popsters Boyzone.

The actor told Yahoo!: "So I was on a dance floor in Dublin and I was 17, in leather trousers and a rubber T-shirt - I'll spare no embarrassing details - when Louis Walsh came up to me and said, 'I'm forming a band, they're going to be huge, do you want to be in it?'."

"I said yeah so I went to an audition the next day and there were 150 lads outside the door with various spray-tans, tight t-shirts etcetra. I went in and sang Careless Whisper twice... they asked me to sing it again because they couldn't believe how shocking I was!"

Considering what the actual Boyzone are like, that must've made Colin utterly dreadful, after all surely with his looks he could've just stood back and watched Ronan Keating sing before the late Stephen Gately joined in a few octaves higher.

Farrell perhaps got off lightly by missing his shot to join the 90s crooners, after all Louis Walsh is the man responsible for Jedward, so who knows what the famously combustible Farrell would've done under his management.

Colin however did look a bit like a boyband member in Oliver Stone's 'Alexander'.

One's thing for sure, we doubt he'd have ended up pulling pints in Coronation Street like Boyzone member Keith Duffy.
