Collapsed Homes Line River in Wake of Peru Cyclone

Dozens of homes collapsed after a cyclone caused the Chillon River river to swell near Lima, Peru, local news said on March 13.

Cyclone Yaku, which started forming off the coast of Peru earlier in the month, brought intense rain to the coastal regions of the country. Several rivers were under red alerts as their levels rose quickly due to the rain, according to Senamhi, Peru’s national weather agency. More rain was expected in coming day, Senamhi said.
