Pro-Palestinian students at Columbia University in New York City protested into the night on April 17-18.

The protest followed the building of an encampment on the university’s South Lawn by the students. It was held as the university’s president, Nemat Shafik, testified before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce on the issues of antisemitism, student safety, and free speech.
