'He can come immediately' - Pep Lijnders names Liverpool player he wants to take to RB Salzburg

Outgoing Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has remarked how he would like to take Conor Bradley over to RB Salzburg, where he is posed to become head coach following his Anfield departure.

It will be the second managerial job of his career, having taken charge of Dutch club NEC in January 2018. He returned to Liverpool that summer having been dismissed for failing to guide the team to promotion to the Eredivisie.

A year later, he was lifting the Champions League before successes in the UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup and, of course, the Premier League. Two League Cups and an FA Cup followed in the proceeding four years and his work attracted the attention of Salzburg.

Perhaps in part this was due to his record in blooding youngsters into the senior game, such as Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah and Bradley. Salzburg are renowned for their work with rising talents and Lijnders could well now attempt to lure a number of Liverpool academy graduates over to Austria on loan.

Bradley - loaned out to Bolton last year - is unlikely to be sent out again due to his rise of prominence within Liverpool’s ranks, with the club even less likely to sanction a sale. Lijnders admits he wouldn’t have the money to buy Bradley at Salzburg but nevertheless highlighted the right-back as one player he’d love to sign.

Speaking to a YouTube channel about entrusting the academy stars to break through into the Liverpool first team, he told Redmen TV: "I really believed in Conor Bradley, and Jarell [Quansah] and Caoimhin Kelleher, and Harvey Elliot, and Curtis [Jones]."

Lijnders then grinned: "But Conor, what is he doing here? Conor Bradley? What did he do? We have a new right defender, you don't need to buy anyone. He can come to Salzburg immediately by the way. I have [my eye on] a lot [of players] - but I don't have the money."

Bradley, 20, does not see his Liverpool contract expire until 2027 having so far tallied a goal and seven assists in 28 senior appearances.
