“Coming soon” signs have appeared outside the former Colombia Press unit as a new business is set to take over.

The vacant former pub looks likely to be back in use in good time after shoppers spotted new signage on the storefront in The Parade, Watford.

The temporary banner says: “Jardín. Mexican Cocina & Tequila Bar. Coming Soon.”

The Wetherspoon pub shut in February 2023, before SOBE Restaurant Management Group Limited announced its plans to take over the venue and relaunch it under the above name in September that year.

It was originally expected to open at the end of 2023 or early this year but this has been pushed back, with the owners remaining tight-lipped over an expected opening date.

The business’ website also simply says “coming soon 2024”.

In May, a planning application for a permanent illuminated sign to go outside the unit was submitted to Watford Borough Council.

More details of how the sign would look were added to the application on June 10 and the proposal remains “pending consideration”.

Jardin, Mexican Concina and Tequila Bar is designed to operate as a Mexican restaurant in the evening and then turn into a nightclub at 10pm.
